Product Description/Introduction

 

PVDF membrane is a polyvinylidene fluoride membrane with high mechanical strength, which is an ideal solid-phase support forWestern Blotting. PVDF membrane is hydrophobic, and the pore size of the membrane varies from large to small.The smaller the pore size of the membrane, the stronger the binding of low molecular weight proteins. Accordingto the pore size of the membrane, there are different sizes such as 0.1 μm, 0.2 μm, 0.45 μm, and 1.0 μm etc. PVDF membranes with 0.45 μm pore size are mainly used for Western Blotting (proteins >20 kDa), adsorption analysis, amino acid analysis, N-terminal protein sequencing, Dot/slot blots, and lipopolysaccharide analysis.

This product is 0.45 μm pore size, cut size 5.5 x 8.5 cm, 10 sheets per package. The cut size of this product matches the size of commercially available preformed gels, and can be used for the transfer of preformed whole PAGE gels.

Transportation at room temperature, dry and sealed storage, prevent moisture. Long-term effective.

 

Assay Protocol / Procedures

 

1. A membrane with a pore size of 0.45 μm is recommended for proteins with a molecular weight greater than 20 kDa, and a membrane with a pore size of 0.2 μm is recommended for proteins with a molecular weight less than 20 kDa.

2. PVDF membranes need to be pretreated with methanol or ethanol activation for 20 s before use to activate the positively charged groups on the membrane and make it easier to bind to negatively charged proteins.

 

Note

 

1. PVDF membranes dry out easily and need to be placed in TBST as soon as possible after transfer. If the membrane dries out deeply, it is recommended to activate it again with methanol.

2. Please wear lab coat and gloves during operation.
